Project Highlights

Independence Gold has discovered two new gold zones, the Sunrise Zone and the Denali Zone, in drill intercepts on its 100% owned Boulevard Project. The Company recently completed a total of 1,093 metres (m) (8 holes) of reverse circulation (RC) drilling to extend the gold mineralization at the new Sunrise Zone. The best intercepts from this recent drilling are 15.00 grams per tonne (g/t) gold across 3.05 m, and 0.94 g/t gold across 22.86 m at the Sunrise Zone, where the discovery hole earlier intersected 7.23 g/t gold across 12.2 m. The best intercept to date at the Denali Zone, located 13 km to the northwest of Sunrise, is 4.25 g/t gold across 6.10 m. The Boulevard Project is located adjacent to Kaminak Gold Corporation's Coffee Gold Project in the prolific White Gold District of the Yukon.

Exploration Summary (1969 - 2012)

The Boulevard Project covers an area of ground in the White Gold District of the Dawson Range that has been explored since the late 1960's. The first known work on the project was regional-scale stream silt sampling in 1969 and 1970 completed by Archer Cathro, to target "Casino-style" copper-molybdenum porphyry deposits. Modern exploration began in 2006 when Rimfire Minerals Corporation and Northgate Minerals Corporation completed a regional silt sampling program across the Dawson Range in search of "Pogo-style" intrusion-related gold deposits. Exploration work by Independence Gold has identified multiple gold-in-soil anomalies. Two main anomalies have been identified: the Sunset Zone which has a strike length of 1,500 m, and the Denali Zone which extends over 700 m.

The Sunrise Zone - Boulevard

The Sunrise Zone consists of multiple northeast-trending multi-element soil geochemical anomalies coincident with magnetic low features. These features parallel mineralized trends at Kaminak's Coffee deposit located 9 km northeast of the Sunrise Zone. Significant drill intercepts are presented below:

The mineralized intercept from 24.38 m to 27.43 m depth in hole BV15-40 assayed 15.00 g/t gold across 3.05 m, including assay values of 27.90 g/t across 1.53 m, combined with 2.10 g/t gold over 1.52 m. The sulphide mineral and quartz vein content, as well as the associated pathfinder element concentrations, within the mineralized intercept in hole BV15-40 are unlike those associated with the mineralized intercept in the discovery hole BV15-31. These differences imply that two separate, chemically distinct episodes of high grade gold mineralization have occurred at the Sunrise Zone. Hole BV15-35 is an inclined "scissor" hole to the discovery hole BV15-31, and was drilled in an attempt to determine the geometry and attitude of the mineralized zone. The mineralized intercept in BV15-35 assayed 0.94 g/t gold across 22.86 m, hosted mainly within quartzite. Holes BV15-36 and BV15-37 were drilled 25 m on either side of, and parallel to, hole BV15-35; both of these holes intersected anomalous gold mineralization. Gold mineralization at the Sunrise Zone appears to occur within north-northeast striking, steeply dipping structures with variable amounts of both sulphide minerals and vein quartz. Quartzite is the main host rock.

The Sunset Zone - Boulevard

The Sunset Zone is a 1.5 km long gold- and arsenic-in-soil anomaly first identified in 2008, and further defined by infill soil sampling. The Sunset Zone is identified by gold-in-soil assay values ranging from 70 parts per billion (ppb) to 7,010 ppb gold, with coincident arsenic and antimony. Three follow-up excavator trenches were completed confirming the presence of bedrock gold mineralization. Trench BV08-01 intersected 2.93 g/t gold over 14 m including 6 m grading 6.79 g/t gold. Trench BV08-02, located 100 m southwest of BV08-01 intersected 4 m of 3.61 g/t gold. Trench BV08-03, located 200 m northwest of BV08-01, exhibited weakly anomalous gold mineralization across 5 m.

The Denali Zone - YCS

The Denali Zone is a 700 m long gold-in-soil anomaly confirmed at depth by reverse circulation drilling. This geochemical soil anomaly is identified by gold assay values ranging from 75 ppb to 4,530 ppb gold with associated anomalous arsenic and antimony. Follow-up excavator trenching intersected 10 m of bedrock mineralization averaging 4.56 g/t gold. Subsequent follow-up drilling returned significant intercepts as presented below:

Drill holes YCS15-01 and YCS15-03 together define a 130 m long northwest trending, northeast dipping mineralized zone that confirms surface trench mineralization and is open along strike and at depth. The gold mineralization is variably hosted within quartzite or quartz biotite schist and, similar to other mineralized zones in the White Gold District, is associated with elevated arsenic and antimony. In addition, 25 select rock samples from prospecting yielded assay values ranging from below detection to 9.74 g/t gold, with the three best rock samples assaying 9.74 g/t, 8.86 g/t and 7.88 g/t gold.


Most of the Boulevard Project area is underlain by Yukon-Tanana Terrane metamorphic rocks. The Yukon-Tanana metamorphic package is intruded to the north and south by the Dawson Range Batholith, a mid-Cretacous hornblende-biotite granodiorite. The northern part of this batholith is comprised of undeformed biotite granite and garnet-bearing leucogranite that occur as elongate intrusions, conformable with the regional metamorphic fabric. Gold mineralization on the Boulevard Project is hosted by quartzite, biotite-chlorite schist and lesser chlorite-biotite schist crosscut by quartz and quartz-carbonate veins with locally sericite-altered envelopes. The gold mineralization at the Sunset Zone is controlled in part by a southwest-dipping, planar fault structure, and at the Sunrise Zone mineralization appears to be controlled by a steep, northeast trending fault structure. The mineralized zone at Denali trends northwest and dips to the northeast at a shallow to moderate angle, possibly along a fault structure.
